Hi! My name is Jon and I’ve worked in and around Industrial Machine Vision for 30-odd years. In that time I’ve seen many, many changes as to what’s possible with Vision. One of the biggest recent changes is the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and also what’s possible with ever smaller processors and ever smaller budgets. Historically in the “professional” world, software and hardware cost serious money, but in the last decade and a half, suddenly you can do an awful lot with cheap or free tools and cheap hardware like Raspberry Pi’s. Cheap doesn’t mean simple as I suspect many of these tools and platforms can out perform their “professional” cousins.
